DASSH Conference | Melbourne 2024

The DASSH Conference and AGM 2024, hosted by the Australasian Council of Deans of Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities (DASSH) in Melbourne, focused on leadership, policy, and the vital role of the humanities and social sciences in academia and society. Attendees discussed how these fields can address contemporary challenges.

Professor Andrew Beer chaired a session titled HASS and the ARC Linkage Program: Opportunities, Relationships, and Impact, which examined the declining engagement of HASS scholars with the ARC Linkage Program. The session included notable speakers such as Professors Anne Pender and Tahereh Ziaian, as well as experts from social service and migrant support sectors. It explored the broader implications of reduced HASS participation in the Linkage Program on intellectual life and societal discourse in Australia. Professor Beer’s insights on navigating this important funding source was explored in his presentation below.
