s3 Research Stream Three The third of four research threads investigates the labour market and retraining preferences of automotive workers from Stream One’s longitudinal workers survey. This research used two Discrete Choice Experiments (DCEs), otherwise known as stated preference surveys. DCEs are used to explore individual preferences and shed light on the drivers of human behaviour. In this research stream, the DCEs investigated the attitudes and preferences of retrenched workers towards the post-retrenchment labour market and programs designed to assist them to find employment and/or add to their education and skills portfolio. The DCEs took place in years 2 (2021) and 4 (2023) of the project. Findings for the first DCE investigating labour market preferences has been published with the Economic Record academic journal.
